1. Hardware devices

Hardware components are physical components of a computer or electronic system that you can see and touch.

1.1. Definition of application and operating system sortware

Application Software

Programs designed to perform specific tasks for the user, such as word processing, photo editing, or playing media.

  • Examples: Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, VLC Media Player.

  • Function: Provides productivity and entertainment functions. It runs on top of the operating system and cannot directly interact with hardware.

 Operating  System

 The fundamental system software that manages computer hardware and provides a platform for application software to run.

  • Examples: Windows, Linux, macOS, Unix.

  • Function: Acts as an interface between the user and hardware, controls resources like memory and CPU, and ensures smooth execution of applications.
